Many people wonder how a computer works. They don’t see much beyond clicking a button and receiving a display on the screen. They think that computers are just sitting there doing their thing. There are two parts of a desktop PC that most people don’t think about. These parts are essential to your computer’s work but tend to go unmentioned.
The Processor
The processor is the brain of the computer. It is responsible for anything and everything which happens on your computer. The processor processes everything which occurs on the screen.
It is like a computer, except it is much smaller than a computer and just a microchip set. These microchips are called “processors” because that is what computers do. A “microcontroller controls these microchips”. The processor is responsible for controlling everything on your computer.
The processor is responsible for talking to the Operating System. The Operating System is the software that makes everything on your computer happen. For example, when you turn on your computer, the processor tells the Operating System what to do. The Operating System then tells all the programs you have installed on your computer what to do.
An interesting fact – the processor itself does not understand any of the programs you have installed on your computer. The processor just tells the Operating System what to do. As you can see, the processor is an essential part of the computer.
The Graphics Card:
The Graphics card is the part of your computer which does exciting and fun functions. The Graphics card is responsible for displaying images on your computer. The Graphics Card also handles all of the graphical updates on your computer. For example, when you play a video game, the Graphics Card is responsible for the graphics on the video game. However, the Graphics Card is separate from the processor. How it functions is that the processor sends commands to the Graphics Card. The Graphics Card then processes the orders and displays the results on the screen.
The Graphics card is the reason why your computer can display graphics. For example, the processor can process a graphic, but if it does not have a Graphics Card, it cannot show it. The processor works from the jump. The Graphics Card has to work a little bit harder.
The Motherboard:
The Motherboard is the heart of your computer. The Motherboard is responsible for controlling everything on the computer. The Motherboard is where all the microchips, the processor and the Graphics Card all plug into.
The Motherboard is where all the wires from the processor, the Graphics Card and the fans plug into. The Motherboard is responsible for connecting everything and for keeping track of everything.
It is responsible for converting the power from the wall into electricity. When it comes to security, it can help keep all your data — from your documents to your photos safe and secure. It is also the place where the desktop PC requires the most technical support.
There are several parts of a computer. However, there are three most essential parts you should know about – the processor, which is the brain of the computer and is responsible for everything that happens on the computer. The Graphics Card is responsible for all the exciting functions, like displaying images on your computer. Knowledge about these basic parts will help you better understand the parts of a computer and how it works.
